Put on your best cowboy hat and boots, because it’s time to celebrate country music!
On Monday Dec. 6. the first-ever American Country Awards aired live on Fox from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The award show was hosted by Trace Adkins who also performed during the evening. Can you say busy? Sit down before you hurt yourself Adkins you can’t rule the entire show!
What makes ACAs unique?
The ACAs is the only country music awards ceremony where fans voted for their favorite artist in traditional categories and newer categories such as Best Touring Artist.
There was no special committee or panel of judges, because the results were all based on the fans of Country music.
Fans had the chance to vote for Artist of the Year nominees at www.theacas.com. Hopefully you didn’t forget to cast your vote!
The Winners Circle
This evening newcomer Easton Corbin won the very first ACA prize of the awards program and his music career for being this year’s Breakthrough Artist.
Carrie Underwood walked away as the evenings big winner with six trophies and the title of Best Country Music Artist of the Year for the second time this year. I am sure Simon, Randy, and Paula would be proud of their precious American Idol!
Lady Antelbellum had a quite a few ACA prizes to carry home as well snagging four trophies.
Some of the evenings most anticipated live performances included:
- Toby Keith
- Rascal Flatts
- Reba McEntire and more.
Overall, I think it’s safe to say the American Country Awards this evening was a success and Country music fans can look forward to seeing the show next year!
Here is a list of all of this evenings nominees and winners.
While browsing the list don’t forget to listen to some ear candy! Below is the ACAs Best Single of the Year “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum. I love this song!
